Professionalism
A Message from Our Vice President of Professional Development
Hello everyone!
My name is Avery Greene, and I’m honored to serve as this semester’s Vice President of Professional Development. My journey with DSP began in Fall 2024 when I joined the Alpha Epsilon Pledge Class as a freshman. Even before arriving in Madison, I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization, thanks to the encouragement of my sister, Louella Greene. What I didn’t expect was how much this organization would mean to me.
My experience in DSP has been filled with opportunities for learning and development. From mastering the interview process to honing my networking abilities, I've become more confident and capable in navigating the professional world. Events like company visits, workshops, and speaker panels have all played a part in this transformation.
As I step into this leadership role, I’m excited to help my fellow brothers continue their own journeys of growth. I’m committed to providing meaningful opportunities that empower our chapter with the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to thrive both in and beyond college.
Best,
Avery Greene

Why do we Value Professionalism?
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity founded in 1907 with the mission of fostering professional development among its members. The fraternity is dedicated to creating an environment where individuals can develop the skills necessary to succeed in business while building personal connections and developing a sense of community. With over 260 active chapters in the United States and Canada, Delta Sigma Pi is one of the largest professional fraternities in the world.
One of the primary goals of Delta Sigma Pi is to promote professional development among its members. The fraternity offers a variety of resources designed to help members build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the business world. Examples of these resources include workshops (for resume building, Linkedin, and interviewing), networking events (with companies such as EY, KPMG, Ovative Group, J.P. Morgan, Dell, Aldi, and others), guest speakers, and mentorship opportunities. Members also have access to a vast network of alumni who are established professionals in various industries and can provide valuable guidance and support.
Through these various resources, Delta Sigma Pi members develop a range of professional skills. One important skill we emphasize is networking. In the business world, building a strong network of contacts is essential for success. Members learn how to build and maintain relationships with others, both within the fraternity and outside of it. This skill is particularly valuable for those seeking internships or jobs. Another skill is communication, members learn how to effectively communicate their ideas and thoughts to others, whether in person or in writing. They learn how to actively listen and respond appropriately to others, which is critical for building relationships with clients and colleagues.
In addition to professional skills, Delta Sigma Pi members also develop important personal skills. For example, they learn how to manage their time effectively, prioritize tasks, and organize their work through involvement in leadership positions and our committees. In these committees, members also learn how to work collaboratively with others, a critical skill for any business professional.
Despite being a large, diverse group of individuals, the Deltasigs of Psi chapter are connected by our mutual passions to grow professionally!
