Professionalism
A Message from Our Vice President of Professional Development
Hi everyone!
My name is Reeya Anand and I am honored to be this semester’s Vice President of Professional Activities. My time in DSP first began when I was freshman in spring of 2024, where I found my new family, the Alpha Delta Pledge Class. With the business school so big, I constantly felt lost. So I went to the org fair, in search of a community. I stumbled across DSP and my collegiate career was forever changed: I found a community with the perfect balance with both professional and social aspects.
My time in DSP has and continues to be full of growth. From learning how to interview, to boosting my networking skills I have grown immensely professionally. Additionally, DSP has enabled me to grow through experiences like company visits in Chicago, brotherhood fun such as boat day, and community service events.
I am thrilled to continue this growth for my fellow brothers as Vice President of Professional Activities. I am committed to giving our chapter impactful learning experiences, skills, and the knowledge to prosper in their future careers.
Best,
Reeya Anand
Vice President of Professional Development
Why do we Value Professionalism?
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity founded in 1907 with the mission of fostering professional development among its members. The fraternity is dedicated to creating an environment where individuals can develop the skills necessary to succeed in business while building personal connections and developing a sense of community. With over 260 active chapters in the United States and Canada, Delta Sigma Pi is one of the largest professional fraternities in the world.
One of the primary goals of Delta Sigma Pi is to promote professional development among its members. The fraternity offers a variety of resources designed to help members build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the business world. Examples of these resources include workshops (for resume building, Linkedin, and interviewing), networking events (with companies such as EY, KPMG, Ovative Group, J.P. Morgan, Dell, Aldi, and others), guest speakers, and mentorship opportunities. Members also have access to a vast network of alumni who are established professionals in various industries and can provide valuable guidance and support.
Through these various resources, Delta Sigma Pi members develop a range of professional skills. One important skill we emphasize is networking. In the business world, building a strong network of contacts is essential for success. Members learn how to build and maintain relationships with others, both within the fraternity and outside of it. This skill is particularly valuable for those seeking internships or jobs. Another skill is communication, members learn how to effectively communicate their ideas and thoughts to others, whether in person or in writing. They learn how to actively listen and respond appropriately to others, which is critical for building relationships with clients and colleagues.
In addition to professional skills, Delta Sigma Pi members also develop important personal skills. For example, they learn how to manage their time effectively, prioritize tasks, and organize their work through involvement in leadership positions and our committees. In these committees, members also learn how to work collaboratively with others, a critical skill for any business professional.
Despite being a large, diverse group of individuals, the Deltasigs of Psi chapter are connected by our mutual passions to grow professionally!
